Is it necessary to localize the graphics along with the text?

I sit and think: if you translate the site into several languages, do you need to change images, colors and design? Or is it too much and just adapt the text? Seen opinions that visual also affects the perception, but how far do companies go in general? It is interesting to hear real experiences, not abstract advice.

It depends on the subject. When we launched the product in Asian countries, it turned out that some colors for them have opposite associations. We really had to change part of the schedule. I only then found a detailed explanation on https://www.pangea.global/localization-services/ - they have a section about graphical localization. Honestly, until I faced it myself, I didn’t realize how much the visual affects trust. Sometimes it is the image that decides whether the person will stay on the page or leave in a couple of seconds.
