Anyone relate to this or found ways to handle it?
Lately I've been trying to figure out how to stay focused when there’s no real external deadline or someone waiting on me. Like, if I don’t have to do something today, even if it’s important, I just kinda don’t. I get all geared up the night before with a plan, but then next day I’m scrolling or cleaning or thinking about random stuff instead. It’s like my brain resists doing anything that isn’t absolutely urgent. Anyone relate to this or found ways to handle it?

Absolutely relate, and I’ve spent an embarrassing amount of time reading about this because I kept thinking something was wrong with me. One thing that helped me was shifting from this “get it all done” mindset to “show up consistently, even if imperfectly.” I also realized I needed fake structure—I started working with timers and little rituals to trick my brain into entering “work mode,” even if nobody’s watching me. I’m not saying I’ve cracked it, but it's better.
Also, I found this post comforting and weirdly validating: the liven app review — the way they describe that need for “external urgency” really hit home for me.
Side note: I saw a Liven app review where people mentioned using it for motivation through social accountability, but I haven’t tried it myself. Might be worth exploring if you’re into habit stacking with friends.
